Visits & Tours

Individual or group visits to the mosque are welcome and can best be scheduled by sending an email to: imam@mcc-sd.org. Visitors from any and all faiths or no faith are welcome to MCCSD. Visitors may wish to read the visitors guide in this section below for things to keep in mind when visiting.

The best time to visit the mosque is on Friday at 1:00 P.M. during the the weekly sermon and congregation. Visitors get to see the mosque full of people, observe different rituals, and watch the community in action. They also get to join us for a complimentary lunch and short discussion after the congregation in which there will be an opportunity for them to get answers to any questions they may have.

If this time is not convenient, other times could also be arranged. The mosque is open at least 5 times a day for the daily prayers, and may also be open at other times for community interaction: study groups, children weekend school, seminars, etc. However we strongly encourage visits on Friday for visitors to get the most out of their experience.

In all cases, visitors are advised to schedule the visit beforehand so that they may be assigned a host.

Visitor Guide:

We would like to warmly welcome you to the Mosque at Muslims Community center of South Dakota. It is our pleasure to host visitors at MCCSD, whether returning or first-timers. To make your visit to MCCSD informative, pleasant, educational, and enjoyable, here are a few points to consider prior to your visit to MCCSD...

Visit times:
The mosque is open everyday for the five daily congregational prayers. Specific prayer times can be found for any day in the "Prayer Timetable" section of this website.

We suggest that you check the MCCSD website (www.mcc-sd.org) or send an e-mail to imam@mcc-sd.org for scheduling a visit. Friday (Jumu’ah) Prayer time is generally recommended for visits (1:00 to 2:00pm). Other days and times can also be arranged.

Access to MCCSD:
Pedestrian access from the back door entrance is only available on Fridays from 12:30PM to 2:00PM. Access is open only through the front door entrance from S. Western Avenue at all other times when the facility is open. Access to the facility is generally restricted by security code that is provided only to registered members of the community center. If you are a visitor, you will need an assigned host to help you with access to the facility.

Both front and back parking lots are open for visitors, as long as it is not a marked reserved parking spot. Please take extra care not to park in the parking spaces reserved for neighboring businesses. On Fridays, only the back parking lot shall be used. When visiting on Fridays, it is generally a good idea to arrive before 12:45PM to ensure parking spot(s) at the backside parking lot is available for you to park.

Additional roadside parking is available on both sides of W. 50th Street.

No pets are allowed anywhere inside the building.

Both men and women are requested to wear conservative attire when visiting the mosque. Shorts, short skirts, and sleeveless tops are strongly discouraged, as well as steeping necklines. Women are not required to cover their hair, but doing so would be greatly appreciated. For men, knee-length shorts are acceptable.

There are two separate prayer halls, one for each gender. Please proceed to the Men's or Women prayer has as appropriate. While the Friday sermon (khutba) is being delivered or prayer is being performed, we request those who are present to refrain from talking.

If interested in taking photos, please let us know as soon as you arrive, so we can make you aware of specific guidelines.

Depending on the activity, you may be requested to remove your shoes when entering areas beyond the foyers. When entering main prayer area, please remove your shoes. Keeping your socks on is okay.
